When I was 9 years old I drew my first nudes and I got a strapping for doing a bad drawing; the teacher thought it was immoral; I thought I couldn't draw.

Hanging Art
Posted by: DonaUnderwod

Everything is an art! Hanging photos and pictures is not always easy but with a few simple guidelines this may make it easier. Photos and paintings are not to be hung so high on the wall so that they become a separate thing. These works should be part of the furniture, so to speak. The bottom edge of a painting hung behind a sofa should be no further than 4 to 6 inches from the sofa. And it should be centered. If the painting extends the length of the sofa then the painting will make the sofa look out of balance. If you have several pictures to arrange, and plan to hang them together; arrange them on the floor until you have a pleasant arrangement, then hang. To create an art gallery effect hang several paintings(of different sizes) in a row with the centre of each painting at eye level. The centre of the art should be no higher than 59 inches. A collection of different sized art may look good if the paintings have similar color frames and are hung together in an unusual fashion(do a layout on the floor); hang for example over the end of the sofa and behind a table and lamp and make the grouping appear as one. To give you some additional ideas, notice how art is hung in home decorating magazines. Of course the internet is an unlimited resource of picture hanging.
